Upcoming Workshop Schedule *** Special Summer 2011 Event ***
Teachers from the Grand Central Academy, The Florence Acaademy of Art and the Angel Academy of Art will be at the CAS to teach a 4 - week Figure and Landscape Workshop.
Learn Academic Principles, Techniques and Methods from leading artists and teachers from the TOP 3 Academies in the World. Teachers from the Florence Academy of Art, Angel Academy of Art and the Grand Central Academy will be converging at the CAS for a one-time only workshop event. For 4 weeks in August the Center for Academic Study & Naturalist Painting (CAS) will be hosting figure and landscape workshops that will be taught by leading fine artists. Teachers from the top 3 Academies in the world will be on hand to teach students academic principles and methods. Students will spend 5 hours a day, 6 days a week working from a live model in the studio. Students will receive daily critiques from teachers. Students will get a chance to immerse themselves in an academic conversation that brings the ideals of all the major academies together. In addition to the figure, students will have a chance to study the landscape alongside these instructors. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday of each week, we will be heading out to paint the landscape. Most of the instructors have spent time at the Hudson River School for Landscape and so have much to offer in terms of methods and principles of landscape painting. Students will get a chance to experience the beauty of the Utah landscape, extending the academic conversation to a broader application.
The list of distinguished instructors is as follows: Angela Cunningham from the Grand Central Academy Gregory Mortenson from the Grand Central Academy Travis Seymour from the Angel Academy Art Nancy Fletcher from the Angel Academy Art and the Grand Central Academy Ryan S.
